Adding mp3 music songs to iPhone is easy, the process is similar with the iPod/iPad. However they are a little different. Instead of the usual drag and drop of mp3 music from library to iPod which Pod owners are accustomed to, you can’t drag and drop mp3 songs directly to your iPhone within iTunes.
Step 1. Connect your iPhone to computer, open iTunes.
Step 2. Go to the “File” menu, click “New Playlist” to create a new “playlist” in iTunes. Name it whatever you want, let say, “Mp3 for iPhone Playlist”, “iPhone mp3”, “mp3 to iphone 4”, or something like that.
Step 3. Select that playlist in iTunes, drag the music songs you want to import to your iPhone from your hard drive or iTunes library to your new music playlist for iPhone.
Step 4. Go to your iPhone and click “Music” tab. Make sure “Sync Music” is checked. Your new mp3 music for iPhone should be listed. Disable “All songs and playlists”, “My iPhone Playlist”, or whatever your playlist is named, go to choose the new iPhone music playlist, “Mp3 for iPhone Playlist”, “iPhone mp3” or whatever you named it at step 3.
Step 5. Sync your iPhone and you’re done.
Mp3 music to iPhone tips:
- Automatic Sycning vs Manually Transferring Songs to iPhone through iTunes When you plug in your iPhone to a computer, you may be prompted to sync all media with your iPhone. It is the default setting of iTunes. If you choose to automatically sync your iPhone, you don’t need to make playlists or anything.
- The new created MP3 music playlist for iPhone is just like another playlist for iPod, iPad, you can play the songs directly with iTunes or sync them to your iPhone. If you want to delete existing music or import extra songs on your iPhone, go to modify the music songs within this playlist first, then sync your iPhone again.
- However to add music songs to iPhone manually will give you the freedom to pick up your favorite mp3 music only. It could be a great choice when you have tons of music but do not want to transfer all the mp3 files to iPhone. It is especially useful for users who have very large libraries of movies, music and pictures that may exceed their iPhone space limits.
- If you choose not to let the automatic sync option import your mp3 music songs to iPhone, you can disable it from iTunes. Simply plug in your iPhone to computer, run iTunes, click on your iPhone under the device section within iTunes, you should be able to find and disable this option under the summary tab.
