Many ebooks, manuals, pamphlets come in PDF format, you can add these PDF files to iBook and read them on your handheld devices like the iPad, iPad 2, iPod Touch and iPhone.

Steps to add PDF files to iBooks for iPad, iPod or iPhone

Step 2. Browse to the PDF file that you want to add to iBooks and click Choose to import PDF files to iTunes.

You can select multiple PDF files or entire folder to add PDFs to iBooks in batch.

Step 3. The PDF files added should now be listed in iTunes Library, select Books in the left column from iTunes Library to double check.

Step 4. Right-click (or press Ctrl and click if you are on Mac) on the PDF file and select Get Info from the menu.

Step 5. Go to the Options tab, make sure Media Kind is set to Book from the pull-down tab.

Step 6. Navigate to the Info tab, add missing info for the newly added PDF file, such as title, author, date, etc.

Step 7. Connect your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch with your computer. Select your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch under the “Devices” section in iTunes.

Click on the “Books” tab near the top of the screen. Check the “Sync Books” box and choose the “All books” or “Selected books” option.

“All books” is for you to sync all books once, “Selected books” is to only sync specific books. Check the boxes of the PDF you would like to add to iBooks if you chose the “Selected books” option.

Step 8. Click “Sync” button at the bottom of the iTunes to add the PDF files to your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

step 9. Run iBooks on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Tap on the “PDF” tab at the top of the screen. Your PDF will be listed.
