iPad users can download over 36,000 free ebooks from Project Gutenberg with different formats and versions like ePub, Kindle, HTML and simple text. You can download and sync an ePub book or PDF to iPad through iTunes library so that you can enjoy them on your iPad.
Steps to Download FREE eBooks to iPad:
Step 1. Go to the Project Gutenberg website – http://www.gutenberg.org/
Step 2. Browse to a book you want to read on your iPad, click on the link. In this example, we randomly clicked on ‘The Girls of St. Cyprian’s by Angela Brazil’ from some of the latest books recommended. The selected ebook opened, see screen shot as bellow:
You can choose to read this eBook online or download it to your PC, Kindle, Android, iOS or other portable device including iPad. Scroll to the bottom of the book’s page, you will find different formats for this ebook such as HTML, EPUB(with images), EPUB(no images), Kindle(with images), Kindle(no images), Plucker, QiOO Mobile, Plan Text, etc.
For iPad users, you can choose the EPUB versions to download to your computer.
Step 3. Open iTunes on your computer and click on File, select Add File to Library from the menu.
Step 4. Browse to the folder on your computer which you have just downloaded the free eBook for iPad, click Open to add ebooks to your iTunes library.
Step 5. Sync the free eBook to your iPad through iTunes.
Step 6. Use iBooks App to open the transferred free eBook on your iPad and enjoy your reading.
